Phillip Gregory Quick
Class of 1975
This year, Greg Quick begins his fifth season as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Concord University in Athens, West Virginia. Prior to Concord, he was the Offensive Coordinator at University of San Diego for four seasons, where under his direction, the Torero offense excelled with players setting numerous season and career records.
Prior to USD, Quick spent the previous decade orchestrating the renewal of two NCAA Division III football programs. At St. Norbert College, in DePere, Wisconsin, he directed his squad to a share of the division title in 1994; and while at the University of Chicago, helped the 1993 program amass the most wins since the Alonzo Stagg team of 1929. Other coaching stops included Claremont-Mudd Colleges, Edinboro University, New
Mexico State, Heidelberg College, St. Edward HS and Emporia State.
Quick graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1979 with a B.A. in Health and Education. His playing career at BW was highlighted by the team winning the 1978 NCAA Division III National Championship. Quick then obtained his Masters of Athletic Administration for Emporia State University in 1982.
Those who know him believe Coach Quick has made a significant impact on the lives of student-athletes across the country. In his wake he has left a network of former players and fellow coaches that have been touched by his passion, his abilities and his example. For many of those who played for him, Coach Quick gave them what they otherwise would not have had and he was the force that changed their lives for the better.
Quick has also made significant contributions to the community beyond his coaching. He is a member of the Princeton, West Virginia Rotary Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He volunteers for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, the local elementary schools’ volunteer reading program and the Concord University gala fundraiser.
Coach Quick and his wife Jeanine, who have been married since 1979, have six children: Philip, 26, is teaching in Southern West Virginia; Nate, 24, is in his second year at Case School of Law in Cleveland; Bonnie, 23, graduated last year from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and is now pursuing her acting/music career; Ben, 21, is attending Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina on a football scholarship; Brittany, 16, is a junior at Pikeview High School in WV where she excels at softball and soccer; and Corey, 13, is the star quarterback for the Princeton Middle School Tigers in Princeton, WV.
